Steve founded Sea Risk Solutions in 2013, after 15 years developing and managing the Marine Liaison program for a major subsea cable supplier. He pioneered methods of proactive AIS use for subsea cable protection in Singapore and The Gulf, achieving significant fault rate reduction. Steve has managed risk mitigation at cable landing sites in 25 countries and served 5 years on the International Cable Protection Committee Board of Directors. Fluent in English and Spanish, he also works in Portuguese and French. Prior experience includes Fishery Industry Officer for the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization; Fishery Observer Program Manager; and commercial fisherman. Steve holds B.Sc. and M.M.A. (Marine Affairs) degrees from the University of Rhode Island.

Ron joined the Sea Risk Solutions leadership team in June 2019. He started his career as a NOAA Fisheries Reporting Specialist in Point Judith, RI. As a Fisheries Observer he covered over 150 days offshore on fishing boats from Maine to North Carolina. He rose quickly in that program to Chief of Operations, supervising area coordinators and up to 35 observers. A key part of that position was developing and maintaining relations with fishermen and industry leaders. More recently, Ron served a major global submarine cable supplier as Senior Project Manager and Cable Route Survey Engineer. In those positions he managed all phases of project planning and installation, including stakeholder relations, marine surveys, permitting and cable route engineering in 25 countries. He holds a B.Sc. degree in Marine Biology from the University of Rhode Island.

Wolfgang Rain joined Sea Risk as Partner after eight years managing the Marine Liaison program for a major cable supplier and ship operator. He has expertise in subsea cable Permitting and Regulatory issues, AIS monitoring and notification, fault investigation, cable awareness, liaison with maritime authorities, shipping interests, fishermen and others in more than 20 countries in Asia, Europe, Middle East, Africa, India, and the Americas. He speaks Spanish, Japanese, Vietnamese, Russian and German. Additional experience includes extensive work as a commercial fisherman in Norway, the Russian Far East and Alaska, as well as international scientific fisheries observer on high seas vessels in the Southern Ocean, Western and North Pacific, and the Bering Sea.

Paul Brookes developed and managed radio and networking solutions for a municipality and major university before joining Sea Risk Solutions. Paul has installed and maintained AIS antennas and data feeds to global service companies. He holds a B.S in Fire Science from Providence College.

He serves as Director of Finance and Analytics, providing financial leadership and quantitative analytics using statistical, computational, machine learning and geospatial methods. Prior experience includes 5 years in quantitative analysis and portfolio management in finance. He holds a M.Sc. degree in Applied Economics from Johns Hopkins University and a B.A. in Mathematics from Southern New Hampshire University, magna cum laude.

Calvin Alexander joined Sea Risk Solutions in June 2021 as a Fisheries Liaison Officer. He started his career as a Fisheries Biological Data Collector in Trinidad and Tobago and became a Fisheries Extension Officer where he was actively involved in outreach, project development and management, fishermen group formation and dispute resolution. Calvin later served as a Fisheries Observer and Trip Trainer in the Northeast Fisheries Observer Program where he covered fishing ports from Virginia to Maine logging 142 commercial fishing trips in the process. As a Trip Trainer, Calvin trained and evaluated Fisheries Observer candidates. More recently, Calvin serves as a Field Scientist at NOAA's Cooperative Research Branch working with commercial fishermen to acquire oceanographic and other environmental data and to record accurate self-reported catch and effort data using electronic logbook software. He has been heavily involved in stakeholder engagement anad industry consultation initiatives as well as addressing fishermen reporting inquiries. Calvin also acted as a Watch Chief on multiple NOAA fisheries surveys onboard commercial fishing vessels outfitted to function as research platforms. Calvin holds a B.Sc. degree in Fisheries and Aquaculture Technology from the University of Rhode Island.

Sarah Hudak joined the Invenergy Team as the Fisheries Liaison Officer in August 2022. Hudak, who joined Sea Risk Solutions in March 2022, has been working to help foster coexistence between fishing communities and offshore wind development. Hudak’s experience includes 4+ years as a fisheries biologist aboard commercial fishing vessels in addition to her expertise in coastal and estuarine systems of the southeast Atlantic. Combining this experience with her abilities to establish and maintain positive working relations among diverse parties, she will help to facilitate effective two-way communications between the fishing community and offshore wind energy development that results in actionable feedback.

Will began working part-time at Sea Risk Solutions in December 2022, before joining the team full time in June 2023. In his role as a Marine Policy Specialist, Will supports Sea Risk's Fisheries Liaison Officers and assists in the production and review of marine policy-related documents and reports. He began his career in offshore wind with the Responsible Offshore Science Alliance (ROSA), where he investigated regional data standardization among trawl surveys in the northeastern United States. During his time in graduate school, Will collaborated with the New England Fishery Management Council to identify methods by which traceability could be enhanced in the Atlantic sea scallop fishery. His research is currently in press with the Journal of Extension.

Martin Wolterding joined Sea Risk Solutions in May 2021 as Fisheries Researcher and Subsea Cable Oversight Officer. Dr. Wolterding, born in New York City, has been a resident of Australia for over 30 years. He began his overseas experience in the Peace Corps in El Salvador and has also worked and resided in the Kingdom of Tonga in the South Pacific and in Malaysia before he migrated to Australia in 1988. While principally an academic, Martin has performed research assessing the effects of environmental stress on marine and estuarine organisms as well as consultancy work for the United Nations and AUSAID. He earned his PhD in Biological Sciences at the University of Sydney in 2000.

Luiz Claudio Ribeiro de Souza joined Sea Risk in 2017. Previous experience includes 12 years in Claro/Embratel performing preventive and corrective maintenance in optical cables and equipment on the Rio-Belo Horizonte route. More recently, he spent 17 years at GlobeNet, where worked with partners in 5 countries, covering 22,000 km of submarine cable system on NOC supervision, maintenance, repairs, upgrades and management of administrative tasks. He holds a degree as an Electronic Technician from the Colégio Pio XII and a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the Faculdade de Administração Machado Sobrinho Juiz de Fora. He speaks Portuguese, Spanish and English.

Geraldine is a subsea cable expert with over 18 years of experience in marine risk assessments, cable route engineering, and sustainability. She has worked extensively in the APAC and Middle East regions, working offshore and at cable landing sites for feasibility studies, managing cable route surveys, and more recently liaising with the marine community to promote subsea cable protection worldwide. Previously, she served as a Sr. Marine Liaison Manager for a major cable supplier. Geraldine holds Bsc (Hons) and MRes degrees in Marine Environment, Geology, and Oceanography from Plymouth University, UK.
